AC repair · same day

Your air conditioner quit. Your afternoon doesn’t have to.

Most South Texas AC failures come down to six parts and one bad habit. We carry the parts on the truck and fix the habit on the way out — usually the same day you call.

Know the signs

Five ways an air conditioner asks for help

01

Warm air from the vents

The fan runs and the air arrives like a dog’s breath. Capacitors and contactors cause most of it; leaks cause the rest.

02

It runs and runs

A healthy system cycles. One that runs from breakfast to the late news is low on charge, choking on a dirty coil, or too small for the house it was sold to.

03

Water where water shouldn’t be

A clogged condensate line fills the pan, trips the float switch, and, given time, redecorates the ceiling below the attic.

04

Noises with personality

Buzzing outdoors is usually electrical. Squealing is a motor bearing. Banging is something loose that will soon be something broken.

05

A bill that climbed on its own

Same house, same thermostat, bigger bill. Systems lose efficiency the way people lose hair: slowly, then all at once.

What happens on the visit

Four steps. No mysteries.

  1. 1

    You pick the window

Two hours, not “sometime Tuesday.” You get a text with the technician’s name before the truck leaves the shop.

  2. 2

    We find the actual problem

Electrical, refrigerant pressures, airflow, drainage. A diagnosis, not a parts cannon. $89, credited to the repair.

  3. 3

    You see the price first

Flat-rate, in writing, before a screw turns. Approve it or don’t. Nobody sighs.

  4. 4

    Fixed, tested, swept up

Most repairs finish on the first visit because the common parts ride on the truck. We test under load, then take our mess with us.

Why the cheap repair is so often the expensive one

There is a kind of repairman who arrives, adds refrigerant, takes your money, and leaves. He will be back in August. He is very reliable that way. Refrigerant doesn’t get used up; a system that is low is leaking, and topping it off is bailing the boat with the hole still in it.

We find the hole. That is the whole philosophy, and it fits on an index card. A technician who diagnoses before quoting will sometimes tell you the fix is $150 and you can stop worrying. Sometimes the news is that the system is sixteen years old and the repair isn’t worth it. Both are favors.

You will get the second kind of news in writing, with the math, and nobody will stand in your kitchen waiting for you to sign something. The best salesman we ever hired was a printed price.

FAQ

AC Repair: questions, answered

Most San Antonio calls booked before noon get a same-day window. In July that can slip to the next morning; the booking calendar shows real openings, live, so you know before you commit.

Saturday is a regular business day here, priced like one. After-hours emergency calls carry a $79 dispatch fee, which Hive Club members never pay. The repair prices themselves are the same at 2 p.m. and 2 a.m.

Yes. Approve the repair and the $89 comes off the invoice. Decline it and you keep the written findings and the price — and you owe the $89, which is the only money that changes hands.

All of them: Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, Daikin, and whatever the builder installed in 2011 when the brochure said “premium.” Parts for the common ones ride on the truck.

A useful rule: multiply the unit’s age by the repair price. Over $5,000, start thinking about replacement. Under that, repair it and sleep well. We show you the math either way and let you decide.
